Grape variety: Montepulciano (autochthonous vine)
Location of vineyards hills in the province of Chieti.
Terroir: different terroirs, all with a high percentage of clay and subject to various microclimatic conditions ranging from the ones at the Maiella Mountain, in an area of mild hills, up to the high side the Adriatic coast.
Altitude: 150-420m above sea level.
Aspect: South, Southeast.
Cultivation system spurred cordon row and arbour from Abruzzo "Pergola abruzzese" more than 20 years old.
N° of plants per hectare: 3500
Yield in hectolitre per hectare: 60
Harvesting period: second and third decade of October.
Vinification process: the hand-harvested grapes are vinified according to the local tradition, which requires a long maceration of the skins at controlled temperature. The wine lees steel tanks.
Ageing: in barrique
Colour: intense ruby red with dark purple highlights.
Bouquet: elegant with black cherry and wild fruits overtones blended in black pepper notes, cocoa and balsamic aromas.
Taste: well-balanced in accordance with the typical characteristics of the tannin-rich complex structure of Montepulciano wines, but soft and juicy. Aftertaste with fruit preserve nuances and a good lingering fi nish.
Alcohol content: 13,5% by volume
Temperature: 18/20 C°
Food to serve with: first dishes with mushrooms, truffle and juicy sauces. Ideal with roast lamb game, venison and baked red meats. It also goes well with salami and seasoned cheeses. It is also appetizing and provoking with dark chocolate.
