     


CITRA (indicating below) and Ultra (suggesting above) are Latin adverbs once used to describe principalities in which the Abruzzo region was divided on ancient 17th-century maps and an era when the Bourbon kings and the papacy in Rome held sway over this green, flourishing and mountainous area of central Italy.
Thus, the Citra name is rich in meaning, an expression of our deep attachment to our regional heritage and an indication of our centuries-old traditions of winemaking, most especially in the Chieti district of the Abruzzo.
