Grapes: 100% Montepulciano
Soil composition: Different terroirs, all characterized by a highly calcareous mixture, in micro-climatic conditions varying from the piedmont of the Majella massif, to the sweet hills on the high side of the Adriatic Coast.
Altitude: 150-400 m. above sea level.
Exposure: South, South-East.
Cultivation system: 20 year old runner system and 30 year old Abruzzo trellis.
Density of plants/ha: average density 3500
Yield (hectolitres per hectar): 56
Harvesting period: second and ten-day period of October., prima decade di Novembre.
Vinification: Hand picked and selected grapes, traditionally vinified by a long maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature.
Wine is racked off, pumped over and decanted into stainless steel tanks at the end of the malolactic process.
Refinement: In large casks and barriques.
Colour: Intense ruby red with light violet nuances and garnet rims.
Bouquet: Intense and charming, with mulberry and sour cherry hints. It offers remarkably complex scents, with balsamic and fruity aromas combined with spicy notes.
Taste: Elegant and powerful, endowed with a rich tannic weft, with distinct notes of red fruit (mulberry) together with spice and liquorice scents, a complex persistent finish.
Alcohol content: 14,0 % vol.
Serving temperature: 18/20 C°
Food pairing: Cold cuts, appetizers, seasoned cheeses, important first courses with meat sauces, truffles and mushrooms. Ideal with roasts and feather or coat game.
