Soil composition: Clayey, calcareous.
Altitude: 190-250 m. above sea level.
Exposure: South, South-East.
Cultivation system: 10 year old runner system and 30 year old Abruzzo trellis.
Density of plants/ha: average density 3500
Yield (hectolitres per hectar): 50
Harvesting period: second and ten-day period of October.

Vinification: Hand picked and selected grapes, long maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature.

Refinement: Wine first refines in stainless steel vats and later in big oak casks, until it reaches a high structural complexity in order to stand a further evolution in smaller barrels. This procedure fixes and exalts the natural fruity peculiarities of the Montepulciano variety.

Colour: Intense ruby red with violet and purplish nuances.
Bouquet: Red fruit, mulberry and sour cherry preserve with a scent of violet.
Appreciable nuances of vanilla, cocoa, nuts, leather, liquorice and black pepper.
Taste: Warm, full-bodied with a long-lingering taste. Sweet and balanced tannin.
Alcohol content: 14,0 % vol.
Serving temperature: 18/20 C°
Food pairing: Important main courses, pasta “alla chitarra” with lamb, Abruzzo timbale, pappardelle with boar, roast pork, tenderloin with green pepper, roasted lamb, stuffed mushrooms, polenta
with sausage. Aged cheeses: 5-8 years old Pecorino from Abruzzo.
